Ask me anything
So it’s been awhile since we have posted anything on the blog but that’s not to say that a lot of progress hasn’t been going on behind the scenes. So here is a big catch up on what we have been doing.
Every Tuesday Plum and I attend the weekly staff meetings at Artstation and last week we were really lucky that they had set the entire meeting aside for this project. This was shortly after we had compiled our first video and outlined the brief.
We presented the video and the written brief to Louise and the team and started to really pick it apart so we were all on the same page about what we were aiming for.
We also were made aware of some changes that were happening in the near future that will inevitably impinge on Artstation as part of the Auckland City Council, the main one being the transition from the current Auckland City Council set up to the new Super City Council which will be happening in four months time.
Two days prior to this meeting Artstation had held their AGM for which the main focus was the direction they were wanting to go in in the foreseeable future, establishing a new mission statement and essentially nailing down what they wanted to be to the community. Having this information was invaluable to us because they were fresh from having come up with it and it was a really great conversation to sit with the team and discuss their ideological solution for Artstation.
I have attached some of the files from these notes however it may be hard to read so have compiled a brief summary.
ARTSTATION -
hub - suppliers - resources - integrating - community of art makers
KEYWORDS -
community nest/incubator - launch pad -enablers - cutting apron strings - champions - icons
“art saves lives, enriches communities, creates cities”
The ASPIRATIONS of Artstation:
-aid the development of practising artists.
-to support the growth of new (artistic) communities.
- to facilitate exchange within and between community groups.
- to provide a safe space for creative and cultural exploration
The People of Artstation:
- free - willing - open to challenges - engaged - moving forward.
The workers of Artstation:
- facilitators - enablers - “people” people - generous - communicators.
Having these values is really important to us as we can find ways to weave them in through our design approach, communication philosophy and image mentality.
