Had a few good progressions over the weekend. The student committee which we are forming was initially going to be called a youth committee but after a survey of school and uni students we found that the word ‘youth’ is actually a bit off putting as it pigeon holes people into a category that they don’t actually associate themselves with. So after playing around with some ideas we decided that the committee will actually be called the YOUNG ARTS COMMITTEE. This committee is going to have a logo. It will be in keeping with the current Arstation logo. This is what we are working on today.
As stated in the proposal the committee is going to be in charge of the upkeeping of the blog. The blog is called The Art Eater - we thought for a while about creating a logo for the art eater but that this actually was going to create mix messages with identity. It is important that we maintain The committee is the identity and the art eater is a communications device that they utelise.
That being said we still do need to design an identity for the blog. Initially our idea was to run with the idea of an american diner design style to link in with the idea of “eater”. Played around with this for a while but went off the theme as it seemed to be something that would be novel for a while but then date. A few other ideas we had were picture frames hung in format with letters inside them and vultures (all illustrated) but after sleeping on it we have decided to take it back to our initial concept that we based our first video on and that is the craft of hands - this really links into artstation as a crafty arty place and will be a fun aesthetic to work with.
Just uploaded the pictures that we are using as reference for our logo head which with be A R T in hands line art and probably loose water colour and then eater in type beneath it. Thinking this is going to be more simple and classic and still speak art.
young arts committee logo will be up there as well.
Bit of a word salad post but its all going to come together!
